Nude hiking demonstration in Freiburg: A successful sign for freedom and tolerance

On June 7, 2026, a peaceful demonstration of nude hiking took place in Freiburg's Sternwald forest to mark World Naturist Day. Around 100 participants – some naked, some clothed – walked a family-friendly, 2.5 km route through the woods. The officially registered demonstration sent a clear message of self-determination, naturalness, and tolerance towards nudity. The focus was on criticizing the arbitrary application of Section 118 of the German Administrative Offenses Act (OWiG) , which can wrongly classify simple nudity as a "public nuisance."

The event was organized by Ulrich Thomas Wolfstädter (NUDARE AUDE), who has been advocating for the acceptance of nudity as a natural expression of life for years. The demonstration was a success: it showed that peaceful nudity is not a scandal, but an expression of personal freedom . The event was accompanied by a program of activities, including a shared meal and short hikes the day before.
